Stress and Emotion Management 4 - Ways to relieve stress


Emotion is the accumulation of similar experiences to form a conscious habit. When there is an external stimulus which triggers the conscious habit, the emotion emerges.

In of our lives, we are subjected to insults, coercion, injustice, deception, demand, etc., causing psychological scars which are internalized in the subconsciousness. Meanwhile, today's society and media are full of negativity such as greed, lust, fight, hatred, suspicion, etc. Every day, we absorb these negative energies unknowingly and record them in the subconsciousness. As a result, negative conscious habit are formed, producing negative emotions and making us feel stressful at times.  That’s why relieving stress has become a very important issue.
Commonly used methods that merely relieve stress temporarily are exercising, listening to music, yoga, reading, confiding, eating, drinking, shopping, etc. These methods only temporarily divert attention, and the same stress will come back in the future. It’s worth practicing an effective one without any negative effect. Here is a simple 1: 2 breathing method:



Taking a deep breath is the most ideal way to relieve stress and stabilize the autonomic nerves. Not only can it activate parasympathetic nerve, but it can also make blood vessels dilate and blood circulation become smoother. This method is simple and easy to do while sitting, standing, or lying down. As shown in the figure above, breath in for 3-4 seconds, and then slowly exhale for 6-8 seconds, focusing your mind on the breath for the entirety of the process. Repeat this more than 5 times until the emotions are calmed down.

If you want to get rid of stress, you must practice stress and emotion management.

The goal of stress and emotion management is to reduce negative emotions and live a healthy, joyful, and happy life. Implementation of the method is through continuous learning and practicing, observing and analyzing your negative emotions, practicing to convert negative emotions into positive thinking, and pumping positive energy into the subconsciousness to correct conscious habit, or emotional response.
